Program

Arrival in Dhaka International Airport. Welcome at the airport and transfer to the hotel.
Overnight in Dhaka.

After breakfast, let’s move for a full day to explore the sites of Dhaka and Sonargaon. Sonargaon was a medieval capital city of Bengal and an ancient city, Panam Nagar which is 27 km away from Dhaka. After visiting Sonargaon, come for a river cruise to have a real idea of Bangladesh culture. The cruiser will be anchored at a terminal of old Dhaka. We will visit Old Dhaka, which was a center of major trading route the South West Silk Route. Move to the Pink Palace just on the bank of the river. Pink palace, this building is the witness of the Bengal division, the Muslim league & independence of greater India. It is now a museum, with 23 galleries decorated with all historical goods & photos. Visit Curzon Hall (means town hall), it was built as a Legislative House of the British Bengal Province. The architectural masterpiece is the redbrick Curzon Hall, a highly impressive example of the European-Mughal style of building erected after the first partition of Bengal in 1905. Visit Parliament House that is one of the famous national assembly buildings in the world. The assembly building received the Aga Khan Award for Architecture in 1989. Shopping in the evening, if time permits.

After Breakfast, move for a 07 hours long journey to Paharpur UNESCO World Heritage – the single largest Buddhist monastery in the world and The Best Monument in the Nation. Essence of mid-aged Bengal Culture & a must visit place in Heritage high way. History and Archaeology cannot be wiped easily. Paharpur Buddhist Monastery a site which was used to be affluent Buddhist center for learning & teaching center is amusing site to feel the heritage & cultural bond of Bangladesh. This is one of the most well preserve archaeological sites of Bangladesh. En-route visit the Mahasthan Garh, the 3rd century capital of North Bengal.
Overnight Bogra.

After Breakfast, move Kushtia and en- route visit to Puthia – A place of Bengal’s past glory to explore the Heaps of old temples hidden among the village. The Puthia Temple Complex consists of a cluster of notable old Hindu temples. From Puthia, we continue to Kushtia, the cultural heart of Bangladesh, where, time permitting, we visit the beautiful Kuthibari Mansion, where Nobel Prize winning poet Rabindranath Tagore produced most of his famous work. Also visit to the mausoleum of Lalon Fakir, a renowned saint, mystic and songwriter who influenced many local and international poets, including Beat poet Allen Ginsberg.
Overnight Kushtia.

We drive to Mongla and board our vessel. We spend the next two days exploring the Sundarbans National Park by specially built cruise boat and smaller country boats. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the park encompasses the largest block of coastal mangroves on the planet, and the forests are home to a huge range of fauna. As we sail through the waterways passing mudflats and small islands, we search for crocodiles, deer and dolphins as well as watching the many birds who call the mangroves home. We stop on several of the islands to explore the beaches and forests on foot, and if we are extremely lucky we may catch sight of a tiger or at least spot some fresh paw prints in the soft earth. The boat will anchor each evening, and we spend the nights on board in twin or multi-share cabins with shared facilities.

This morning we set off on a long journey (approx. 8 hours) to Dhaka. En-route visit to Sixty Domed Mosque in Bagerhat, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The drive includes a ferry crossing of the Padma River as we near the capital.
